Offsetting lows with awesome

Today, Terry Pratchett died. It doesn’t have the same effect on me as Leonard Nimoy’s passing, but it does make me quite sad. It seems to me we’re losing someone great every month and I’m hoping the trend will stop now.

To offset the sad, I want to pass along the best thing I’ve seen today. I also want to note that it is things like this (and Chris Pratt and Chris Evans and their trip to hospitals) that make me love the superhero genre even more. People may view these movies, the source material as subpar but not me. I love comics and I love superheroes. Now, if we can just convince a few billionaires that we need a Batman or a Green Arrow. I’d say we need an Iron Man but I don’t think anyone could top Robert Downey Jr.

Mind Blind

My youngest son sometimes has difficulty finding the words he wants to use. It’s more pronounced when he’s frustrated or upset but it is not an unusual occurrence. Yesterday we were discussing school – and whether or not he’d have it today (which he does not – thanks snow!). He was trying to say something but could not find the words he wanted and informed me that he was Mind Blind. I really like that term.

At the moment, I’m taking a break from line edits as I too have become Mind Blind. There’s a phrase I want that I can’t find and it irks me. I’m absolutely thrilled with the progress on the book and so excited for release day. I’m also stumped on this stupid phrase. So, I’m fiddling around on the internet until the dust shakes loose and my mind finds the words I want.

I’m still a bit touchy about Mr. Nimoy, much to my husband’s amusement. I reached for a clean coffee mug and it just so happened to be my “Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock” mug and I got a little sad because it’s just not the same anymore. I do really know that Spock isn’t gone – our friends on paper and film are never really gone – but it still struck me and it likely will for a while.
